Orel Puppington (owner) |
Bartholomew was Orel’s pet dog and a minor character.
Personality[]
Bartholomew had a playful and affectionate temperament, and he quickly trusted Orel. He was also unusually intelligent for a small stray dog, doing stock tricks and reenacting Bible scenes on command. He carried no animosity toward other animals or people, regardless if they liked him in return.
It's implied that Bartholomew was the second coming of Christ.
History[]
While Orel was throwing a tennis ball by himself one day, Bartholomew caught it while it landed. He decided the adopt the stray dog, and they bonded effortlessly.
Bartholomew brought joy to the children of Moralton while he was alive, and better than what the adults could do. Their jealousy triggered them to put Bartholomew down, using Orel's love for him rivaling Jesus as an excuse. According to Bloberta, he would never make it to Heaven because animals don't have souls.
Relationships[]
Orel Puppington
Orel was Bartholomew's owner. He was worried that he loved Bartholomew more than Jesus, ultimately deciding to let him go. However, he questioned why Bartholomew had to be euthanized by the end of the episode.
