Joe Secondopinionson is a student at Alfred G. Diorama Elementary and a recurring character. He is Coach Stopframe's nephew, as well as Dr. Secondopinionson and Nurse Bendy's son. Ms. Secondopinionson is his half-sister.
Personality[]
Joe is a defiant and outspoken child who channels his insecurities through physical and emotional harm. He shows little respect for authority figures, animals, property or his fellow students, one of his favorite targets being Orel. His naivete and forgiving nature makes it easy for Joe to manipulate or take advantage of him. Despite being Moralton's local delinquent menace, little if anything is done about his mischief, the people of the town often responding to his mischief "it's someone else's problem".
While he seems to be tough and intimidating on the outside, Joe is insecure, jealous and somewhat fearful. To him, growing up is synonymous with growing old and feeble, like his father. This, as well as his fear of death that likely stems from it, fuels Joe to engage in reckless behavior and gorge on junk food. Until he knew about his real mom, he was also insecure about not having a mother or father he could do things with.
Aside from conversations with his half-sister and Nurse Bendy, Joe masks vulnerability with jokes, threats and violence. The two are also the only people he genuinely smiles around.
History[]
Joe was conceived after his father raped Nurse Bendy. After he was born, his father lied that his mother died in childbirth. Because Joe's father was so old and his uncle couldn't care less, Ms. Secondopinionson was the only person who could provide for him. Still, Joe craved feelings of being held and cared for by a real parent. While living with his half-sister, Joe would often act in defiance of her because she wasn't actually his mom.
Eventually, Joe discovered that his mom was Nurse Bendy, alive and well. After the two bonded over their incomplete families, Joe beat up his father for lying to him and started to appreciate what his half-sister did for him. He would move out of his old house and live with his real mom for the rest of the series.
Relationships[]
Dr. Secondopinionson
He is Joe's father. Even before he found out the whereabouts of his real mom, Joe hated his father for being too feeble to do anything with him. While Dr. Secondopinionson sometimes objects to his son's activities, he physically cannot or chooses not to prevent Joe from doing them.
Ms. Secondopinionson
She's Joe's half-sister. While Joe doesn't respect her at first for not being his mom, Ms. Secondopinionson remains patient with him and provides whatever care he needs. After meeting Nurse Bendy, Joe was initially upset that his half-sister also knew about her but didn't tell him. However, he soon understood why and becomes more grateful for her care. She would allow Joe to move in with Nurse Bendy.
Nurse Bendy
She's Joe’s mother. Before he knew this, Joe originally thought she was one of the dumbest people in Moralton. Once he knew about her situation and what he was missing out on, he began to treat her with more respect. The two eventually bonded as mother and son, even if Joe got jealous of Nurse Bendy's "Sonny" bear at first.
Danielle Stopframe
He's his uncle. Danielle couldn't care less about what Joe does, only helping him find his real mother to get him off his back.
Orel Puppington
Joe frequently bullies Orel, who puts up little resistance. Despite this, Orel pities him. Orel once spent time with him damaging property, burning ants and beating up gay kids in a misguided sense of loyalty.

Trivia[]
- Despite being introduced in "Loyalty," Joe's character tic of sticking his tongue out was established in "God's Image."
- Joe's paternal last name, "Secondopinionson," is derived from "second opinion;" this term is often used in medicine, where one doctor consults another before making a decision. Fittingly, it was revealed in "Holy Visage" when Dr. Potterswheel referred to his dad by his last name. Joe's other last name, "Bendy," refers to how clay is flexible if not fired in a kiln and is a meta joke about the character being a clay puppet.
