Clay and Orel's father-and-son hunting trip continues, and becomes worse and worse as it concludes.
Plot[]
After a recap of the events in Part One, Part Two opens to reveal that Orel didn't shoot Clay, but destroyed his remaining two liquor bottles instead. Clay is angered by Orel’s behavior for the entire trip and doesn’t believe the shooting was an accident. For the first time in the series, Orel directly confronts his father, saying that he "becomes a bad person when he drinks". Clay is furious at this and attempts to take off his belt to spank Orel. However, he is too drunk to remove it properly. His pants fall down, and after unsuccessfully attempting to pull them back up, he briefly breaks down crying and rejects his son’s attempt to help him.
After a moment, Clay finally manages to get himself to a proper state. He decides to make Orel a man and grabs his rifle. A terrified Orel begs him to be careful as to avoid firing by mistake, but Clay exclaims that there are no mistakes, before shooting Orel in the leg. Rather glibly, Clay blames the incident on Orel while his son begs for help. Clay fashions a crude tourniquet from the sleeve of Orel's lucky shirt. Orel says he has disinfectant in his first–aid kit, which Clay told him not to take. Clay takes the rubbing alcohol out and pretends he will apply it to the wound. However, he simply chugs it all instead, since he's mad at Orel for bringing the first aid kit to the trip in the first place. At this moment, Orel declares "I hate you!" as Clay responds with a smarmy "Hate away, sister, hate away!" before passing out.
A bear soon comes along, attracted by the smell of the roasting dog carcass, and turns its attention to Clay. Orel is forced to shoot the bear in order to save his father's life. Clay awakens from his drunken slumber the next morning, only to ask Orel for his sleeping bag to cover his eyes from the sun. Clay then returns to sleep while Orel remains awake for the next 13 hours. Feeling guilty about killing an animal, Orel begins to resent his father.
When evening comes, Clay awakens refreshed but with no memory of the previous night, refusing to take responsibility for shooting his child. When he sees the bear carcass, Clay turns to Orel and asks him if he killed the bear, saying "Make me proud, Son, and tell me you killed that bear yourself." After some thought, Orel lies to his father and says that Clay was the one who killed the bear. Clay, confused, accepts the lie and takes Orel to the hospital.
Back at home in his bedroom, and being fed bacon, eggs, and cheese by his mother, Bloberta (under Doctor Potterswheel's advice that "fatty foods will help his leg clot"), Orel asks her why she married Clay. Bloberta simply responds with "Why not?". Orel expresses his concerns that his father "changes" when he is drunk. Bloberta blithely remarks that his father doesn't change, rather his "true nature" emerges when he's drunk. The episode ends with Orel saying "hmm... Nature" and quietly eating his food while the blue bird (seen following him in Part One) looks at him from a tree branch outside his window. During the end credits, birds are heard chirping, and bees are heard buzzing outside his window.
